OMG that's amazing. Free wifi from lamposts?? Awesome. I think it's awful that some people can't access the internet - you get excluded from all sorts of informaion and services if you can't get online. With libraries closing, the division will get even worse.

I am with Ste on this one. The internet is a wonderful resource but there are "better" things that the money could be spent on.

But I suppose every policy or investment has an opportunity cost, for example the married couple tax break of about £3 a week will cost £550mn (equal to EMA budget), which could be spent on say, volunteering or the NHS. I do think connecting people to the internet, who otherwise would struggle to, is rather important for many reasons.
