This is question of free speech if they were members of a terrorist group then their comments would merit a strong sentence but then rioting is not normal and reflects the economic climate, the 92% cuts to UK youth service and the gap between the rich and poor!

    Pre-crime arrests? I think so
The word 'Incite' is also very dangerous for the sole reason it assumes that ones crime is variable and not there personal reversibility, thus no one should be jailed for inciting violence.
What about inciting violence by talking to your friends at school, down the pup or at the local football match? Would you get arrested for that?
What about via text? No, you wouldn... Read more

I am really worried about this as the true test of civilized society is how it treats is most vulnerable members e.g the elderly and the young! I think we have fall badly here! we are looking up children and not giving the support to help them change their lives! I wonder if prison education get much funding or maybe it been cut! Great!

    Hi,

Have you got a message for the Prime Minister about the riots?

The British Youth Council, UK Youth Parliament and Young Mayors Network want young people themselves to have a say on the riots. They're currently compiling a report to take to UK Government and are asking young people to have their say.

To complete a short survey that will help form the report follow this link:

The cuts are rolling out from September and so it is unreasonable to justify any of the violence and destruction with the cuts, despite many of the rioters interviewed citing that as their reason for doing so. The force of the monetary changes is yet to be felt and there is a much deeper cause at play here - Youth unemployment teamed with a melting pot of the diminishing social conscience finally... Read more

Love the mini-olympics idea! It would be a great day in the local community, as well as maybe even inspiring our next generation of Mo Farahs!

There's something a bit depressing about celebrating a major sporting event with art instead.

Well I don't imagine Usain Bolt took up running because he saw a nice mural.

The Olympics may end up feeling fairly meaningless for most of the UK, because most people won't be able to afford to go. So having art projects in cities around the country will probably seem pointless to most residents. Especially in future years, when the Olympics just seems like a distant memory and the art projects... Read more

I think all of the above qualities would be needed to ensure that staff that are working within the Summer Programme are doing the best they possibly can for those involved. It's essential that they are someone that believes in the participants otherwise they will become demotivated and not want to join in. As well as both needed to be a good listener and communicator being required for the sake... Read more

Perhaps we can! 3700km above the earth surface- a cover of solar panels! Brilliant, it'll have full access to direct sunlight =lots of energy, although sunlight will be blocked out- we could always have a fake sun AND it'll provide a sheet of protection from alien invasions! ... *-* I'm going back to bed

My project is to becoming the ARK Angel, (Acts of Random Kindness), for your community, and go around your town commiting simple, happy acts, from giving up your seat on the bus to leaving 20p's in phonebooths, to quote the ad, every little helps, and it can really brighten a person's day.

@Joe, I think you largely misunderstand the banking system. Banks don't just key in an increase to their own bank account. They just lend out more money than they have creating more money upon repayment of the debt.

You may think this is wrong, but it is vital for a strong growing economy and without it banks would just be safes. Places to store your money. There would be no loans. The only people... Read more
