The power of speech.

“I have a dream”. “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country”. “Yes we can”. It’s incredible how words can inspire, and motivate us to take action. And it’s time for the voices of a new generation to be heard.

What would you say?

How would you inspire people to:

• stay on in education?
• look after the environment?
• take part in politics?
• volunteer?
• build their career?

So here’s your challenge: can you write an inspirational speech about one of those 5 topics? We want to hear your words of inspiration, so get writing and recording that speech. All you need to do is upload a clip of no more than 4 minutes to YouTube, then post it on the site with the tag “inspiration”. Just make sure you do it by Sunday 22nd May.

What's in it for you?

To celebrate the release of the award-winning smash hit phenomenon The King’s Speech on DVD and Blu-ray on 9th May, Momentum Pictures has teamed up with national youth charity v to support their Big Society’s Big Mouth project. With the support of Momentum Pictures and their publicists, Romley Davies, we can offer you the following prizes:

The first 25 entries will receive a copy of “The King’s Speech” on DVD.

There will be a winning entry for each category above, and these 5 winners will receive:

A copy of “The King’s Speech” on DVD, a signed copy of the film’s poster, a copy of the film’s script, a recording of your speech on DVD, a certificate, and a V Inspired T shirt.

These winners will be judged by a panel made up of individuals involved with the film, its production company (Momentum Pictures), its publicists (Romley Davies) and v.

All 5 winners will then be entered into the “People’s Choice” award. The winner of this will be chosen by Big Society’s Big Mouth users, and in addition to all the other prizes will win:

A 2 week expenses paid work placement with specialist film and PR company, Romley Davies (www.rdp-db.co.uk)

The small print.

The competition is open to UK residents between the ages of 16 and 25.
The competition closes at midnight on Sunday 22nd May 2011.
The panel judging will take place week commencing 23rd May 2011, and the 5 category winners will be announced on Wednesday 1st June 2011
The voting for the People’s Choice award will open on Thursday 2nd June 2011, closing at 5 pm on Wednesday 8th June. The winner will be the speech with the most votes, and will be announced on Thursday 9th June. In the event of a tie, the winner will be selected at random from all of those with the most votes.
The judges decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
The Romley Davies work placement will be based in their London offices, and will last 2 weeks. Travel expenses of up to £50 per week, and lunch expenses of £5 per day will be paid.
