Everyone on climate change

Helper

Did you know that next week, 21st to 27th March 2011, is Climate Week? Thousands of businesses, charities, schools, councils and others will run events to showcase what can be achieved and share ideas.

What do you think - do such weeks help focus organisations and encourage people to act during the rest of the year? Or are they just a marketing exercise that people forget immediately after... Read more

There has been some discussion around removing climate change from the curriculum. Tim Oates, a government school advisor said that climate change should not be in the curriculum in an effort to get back to the science in science. Now correct me if im wrong, but climate change is about science! And more, it can be a cross-curricular subject, its about technology, culture, economics and social issues... Read more

I think you're absolutely right! I remember that lessons about climate change were some of the most refreshing and eye-opening ones we had. They're vital in showing how all our actions have consequences and effects on the environment, so if the government were to scrap them, all the kids would just sink into the same ignorance that our past generations had, wouldn't they? Because there isn't exactly... Read more

Perhaps we can! 3700km above the earth surface- a cover of solar panels! Brilliant, it'll have full access to direct sunlight =lots of energy, although sunlight will be blocked out- we could always have a fake sun AND it'll provide a sheet of protection from alien invasions! ... *-* I'm going back to bed

About Climate Rush
Climate Rush is inspired by the Suffragettes. We’re a mixed crew but we agree on one thing: we need to take responsibility now to prepare for the future. The Suffragettes had a slogan: DEEDS NOT WORDS. PLEASE DO HAVE A LOOK!

The suffragette movement is the perfect example of how to get you message heard. Climate rush do some fantastic work right across the scale and recently delivered some really great workshops on creative activism at the Bath Youth Climate Summit.

While I agree that climate change is a massive issue, perhaps the suffragettes aren't the best model. Vandalism, violent protest, hunger strikes, and one of their members dying attempting to pin a badge on a horse all made the wider public think that the suffragettes were insane and hysterical, and a prime example why women shouldn't get the vote. It wasn't until the suffragettes suspended all activities... Read more

They did what they could to get votes for women heard about. They were passionate, intelligent and dedicated to the cause. Not only did they do direct action, they used art, fashion, literature and so so much more. They are an amazing example of standing up for what they believe in and the most important point is that it worked. If more people actually showed a commitment to climate action like... Read more

I am bored stiff of talk of "climate change" and "carbon". These are problems. Whatever happened to talking about the solutions? These guys threw a party to celebrate the solution (aka renewable energy).
