Connecting with Facebook is the easiest way to do this.
N.B. We won't post anything to Facebook or spam your friends. We'll just grab your name, photo and email address so we know who you are.
We so want to hear what you have to say, but we do need you to log in or register first.
As we've just mentioned Facebook makes it dead easy - we'll only grab your name, photo and email address. None of your mates will ever know as nothing from Big Mouth will show on your profile page and they won't get any messages from us either.

It’s great to have the opportunity to hear from you. There have been lots of questions already so I will use this first post to address as many as I can.
At its heart, the Big Society is about Government getting out of the way and enabling you to take charge, identify what your neighbourhood needs and empowering you to do something about it. Jamie asks how the Big Society can exist without young... Read more

Hi Charlotte, Did he answer your questions?
Check out my first post. Not only did he not answer my questions from when this subject was first posted a month or so ago, but he hasn't responded since my reminder that he has skirted the issue.
Spoken like a true politician. Lots of noise, not a lot of substance and when challenged they skulk off back to their offices

Hi Paul. Apologies if it wasn't clear from my earlier comment, but Andrew Stunnell is keen to engage with young people and asked to blog in response to everyone's questions when it became evident that we would have to put back our original meeting. He was also keen to hear feedback on his blog, and has agreed to discuss the points raised when he meets us on June 8th. Five young people will be... Read more

Hi Charlotte - you are as entitled to your opinion of politicians as I am of mine.
Sweeping statement or not, I look forward to a proper answer and will be delighted to eat humble pie when a politican finally does answer a question honestly.
I wont be holding my breath
Charlotte Beckett
Absolutely, Paul - this site is all about debate. I just thought it might be useful to share some of the background to this.

We’re very excited to announce that on Wednesday 8th June we’ll be having a meeting with Andrew Stunell who is a Minister at the Department for Communities and Local Government. And we want to take all of you with us (in a virtual way of course)!
Naturally, he’s very keen to take questions and comments on communities, neighbourhoods and volunteering from our discussion on Big Society’s Big... Read more

Hey vbigmouth!
The government has cut funding to hundreds of youth organisations across the country forcing a majority of them to close down.
**How can the Big Society exist without young people?**
I work and volunteer for a youth organisation in Wolverhampton called Kids in Communication (www.kicfm.com) that has had its funding cut because of government reductions. We engaged over 5000 young... Read more

Hi Andrew
My names Kenny, and I'm involved with Kids In Communication, a young persons radio station and a support network for young people.
Funded by VInspired for the last 3 years, our project, along with hundreds up and down the country was cut on the 31st March. We were solely funded by V, and as of this date, we were forced to close our doors to young people.
Over 13 years, we have trained... Read more

How can the government expect young people to work towards the big society when 1) they are cutting funding here and there to the voluntary sector and schemes which support it (like the Youth Opportunities Fund) and 2) are doing seemingly nothing to tackle young people's 20% unemployment rate? Young people can't volunteer if they can't afford to live.
Paul Martin
The Big Society concept is based upon volunteering - everybody doing their bit. But does the government recognise that volunteering doesn't just happen by osmosis?
Volunteers dont just come forward or suddenly materialise as if by magic! Volunteering needs a funded infrastructure behind it to develop and support volunteer management.
What is this government doing to ensure that volunteer infrastructure... Read more

Hi folks. We've unfortunately had to move dates on this: the meeting is now Wednesday 8th June. In the interim, Andrew Stunell has addressed your points in a blog which we're just about to post. We'll keep you updated on when the meeting is.
With the current 'fuel crisis' (although it's not actually a crisis because we're not actually running out of oil just yet, it's just the government charging ridiculously extortionate tax) We hear about all these economic fuel solutions on youtube and other streaming sites about different inventions people have made, why is there not more being done to pilot schemes to get economic cars refined... Hi Ed, thanks for posting your thoughts. Do you want us to include them with the question you've posted under the original article about the meeting with Andrew Stunnell MP? We don't want to miss any questions out!

gives them something to do I suppose.
Have you ever tried to run a small project? Like a film-night, fun day, a debate, a skill-share.... Personally I find doing such small, simple projects can be unnecessarily complicated.
Last month I met MP Andrew Stunell with other people from Big Society’s Big Mouth and he talked about ‘barrier-busting’. He is a minister in the Department for Communities and Local Government and they have set... Read more

I always found it easy as long as it didn't require CRB checks...
It's almost impossible now there's no money available though.
